There is no doubt that every year the Spanx faux leather leggings are a best seller and everyone’s favorite. Since I already own the Spanx faux leather leggings (and trust me I really like them), I decided to purchase the Commando faux leather leggings and see how different they are and whether or not they are worth the purchase.

Below are my thoughts and review on this fall/winter season staples. I literally live in leggings in the cold weather and a nice pair of faux leather leggings are a must have in your closet.

Spanx vs. Commando

Look & Feel

Now that I have my Commando leggings with me I decided to put them to the test. At first side by side comparison, you can definitely tell that Commando faux leather leggings look a lot more like a real leather pants and they also feel so much more like leather. On the other hand, when looking at the Spanx leggings, they look a bit more shiner and a thiner material, like an everyday athleisure kind of outfit. When I tried them on, the Commando leggings were for sure a bit more challenging to get on (maybe because I am 6 months pregnant trying to fit in an XS). But once they are on, they feel so comfortable and hugs just in the right places, and overall it gives you such a nice shape. On the other hand, the Spanx are a bit easier to get on since they are a lighter and thinner material.

Size & Fit

One advantage of the Spanx Leggings over the Commando is the size friendly variety of options. Spanx leggings offers not only regular sizes but also petite and this year they came out with their maternity option (brownie points for that since I am currently pregnant). Commando leggings on the other hand only come in regular sizes; however, they seem to be a bit shorter than Spanx leggings so the length is actually not a problem at all for us petite ladies! Also, both leggings will hold everything in depending on the sizing that you choose. If you want more of a comfortable fit, then definitely size up on the Spanx leggings. I usually wear XS in both!

Honestly, I love both leggings so you can’t go wrong with either one. I would say that now that I have both leggings, I will definitely see myself reaching out for the Commando leggings. It all comes down to personal preference but my advise to you is that if you already own the Spanx, definitely get give the Commando faux leather leggings a try. They are the same price and you can’t beat the sale price right now. Let me know in the comments below which one you like better!
